Limitless Methods of Experience

Never make a principle out of your own experience; let God be as original with others as He is with you. – Oswald Chambers

God spoke to the Israelites from the mountaintop with thunder, lightning, fire and smoke. He spoke to Elijah in a whisper. The key is He spoke. Amen!

Exercise regimens. Cold remedies. Financial successes. We’re quick to offer others our pet methods and ways for the success we may have achieved in certain areas, telling them if they do exactly what we did they’ll get the same results. Rarely is that the case but more importantly it puts God in a box, limiting Him and His creative power. Sharing experiences is great, but we must let God be God in all things and allow Him to work in our lives “according to His good pleasure,” and not our expectations. God has been known to move and answer in some mysterious ways. Keep an open eye!

Temper Temper

Temper is what gets most of us into trouble. Pride is what keeps us there. – Richard Murray

Cain was so upset with how God perceived his offering; he went out and killed his brother Abel. WOW!

There’s no denying that we are emotional beings, God made us that way. But he also made us with the ability to overcome our emotions with sound, rational, thinking and spiritual wisdom. It’s when we refuse to engage in the latter that we find ourselves in more trouble than we often bargained for. It’s not a sin to get angry or upset, but it should never result in sinful behavior. The problem is it is so easy to cross the line, then feel compelled that we must prevail for the sake of ‘principle.’ We must remember our calling is not so much for the sake of principle as it is for righteousness and holy living.

101 Percent Principle

The 101% Principle: Find the 1% we agree on and give it 100% of our effort. – T. Elmore

Though the Athenians had a god for everything, even for the ‘unknown’; Paul perceived they were indeed in search of God. He made the introduction. AMEN!

It goes without saying that we’re not going to agree with everyone on everything. But that does not mean we cannot relate to them or work with them. Relationships are built on common likes and ideas, so the key is to find the common link. We often hide behind our differences and use them to disassociate with others. But God asks us to seek the common ground and then build a bridge to fellowship that He may be glorified. Finding fault is easy, finding the good and pursuing it is godly. As we traverse the day God is looking for 101%.
