Vexing the Devil
We cannot vex the devil more than by teaching, preaching, singing and talking of Jesus. - Martin Luther
When Satan attacked him, Jesus just let God’s Word do the talking. How simple. Hmm!
Just as certain as us waking this morning, our enemy is already planning ways to pounce on our parade. And he has a distinct advantage because he’s been awake all night plotting against us. And since the Garden scene he’s used the same method all these years, deceit and deception. He’s the master of putting so much into our lives and deceiving us into thinking it’s necessary, that we can’t seem to find time to spend with Jesus; for he know that’s our only way to defeat him. The bible tells us he has no defense against Jesus. So if the day gets burdensome and heavy laden maybe we need to do a bit more ‘vexing’ than complaining. It’s guaranteed to change the outlook.

Pray. Listen. Minister.
Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still. – E.M. Bounds
Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray and ask His Father for insight on what to do and say. Hmm!
Moody, Spurgeon, Evans, Stanley, Swindoll, Warren, your local pastor. All great men past and present who make known God’s will to men and women with great clarity and conviction. But I would dare say to you that none of these men would ever try to talk to men about God, without talking to God first. In fact, talking to God first is the only thing that gives them the utmost confidence to talk to man. May we all take a lesson here today.

Believe it? Live it!
Your theology is who you are when the talking stops and the action starts. – C. Morris
While facing a death sentence Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego held fast to their God. In the fiery furnace their God held fast to them. Hmm!
There’s an old cliché that says: “when all is said and done, there’s a lot less done than said.” There’s a lot of truth to this in most lives. People are good at talking and making great and grand promises, claiming to have impeccable character or stout-hearted faith. But despite all we claim, our actual life actions will scream who we are so loud others really don’t have to listen to a word we say. The good thing is we serve a God who is patient and forgiving, however he will not always “hold His peace”. Remember, if you don’t live it you don’t believe it.

“The man who says, ‘I know him,’ but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God’s love is truly made complete in him.” – I John 2:4-5
