Aging Wisely

Wisdom doesn’t necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself. – T. Wilson

Solomon’s son Rehoboam was 41 years old when he took over the kingdom. He was nowhere near as wise as his father. OUCH!

We see it often. Someone doing or saying something out of character and we wonder in our minds how could someone that age be that silly or stupid or misguided. Simply put, it’s because one of the true paradoxes of life is that growing older is mandatory, but growing up or maturing is optional. You keep waking up each morning you will grow older. So often we think wisdom comes with age, but deep down within we know that’s not true; if it were we wouldn’t do some of the things we do. When it comes to wisdom the word of God actually tells us to “seek it,” “find it,” and “hold it” fast. I think the most important point to remember is that the search begins and ends with God, and He gives to all who asks. May we all grow a little wiser today.

Until  tomorrow….

“Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” – Proverbs 4:7
